Watercolour and pastels are my passion and I find the subject matter usually determines the use of one medium over the other.

My watercolour style tends to be fast and wet so I prefer to paint sweeping landscapes and seascapes. I want my work to have the essence of realism but still show creative processes with minimal washes and brushstrokes.

Richly coloured and detailed subjects often work better for pastels which I like to apply in a bold and energetic fashion. Whatever the medium, capturing the light and spontaneity of the moment without overworking the image is the ultimate goal!
